Tokyo Trade's 7 Easy Steps:

Now it is time for the 7 Easy Steps to Importing used Japanese Vehicles through Tokyo Trade.

1. You contact our company with a request for a specific car you are looking for. The more detail you give, the better the results we will find. Please try to include: Brand, Model and Year. If you have any other requests such as Color, Km, Engine Capacity (CC) or any additions, please include them also. You can also go to our auctions page and using an ID, find a certain vehicle you like without our help.

2. We run a search on the vehicle for you. We find out as much information and details as possible, in addition we get pictures and the auction sheet for you. (Only we can find specific information such as Chassis Number, Damages, etc. for you.) We then calculate a price and send you our results.

3. Once you have decided whether you want the vehicle or not, you then send us your Name, Address, Phone Number and Fax Number. We will create a document called the Pro Forma Invoice. The invoice will include your information, the vehicle information, the total estimated price, our bank details, etc. You then sign the invoice, and send it back to us.

4. At this time, a certain amount of money must be sent directly to our bank through T.T. (Telegraphic Transfer). The amount of money is decided by:

If the car costs less than 100,000 yen or $1,000 US Dollars, you must send 50% of the CIF cost.

If the car costs 100,000 - 500,000 yen ($1,000 - $5,000 USD), you must send 100,000 yen or $1,000 USD

If the car costs 500,000 - 1,000,000 yen ($5,000 - $10,000 USD), you must send 200,000 yen or $2,000 USD

If the car costs over 1,000,000 yen or $10,000 US Dollars, you must send 50% of the total CIF cost.

5. We confirm the money has reached our bank, and we then go off to bid on your vehicle. If we lose the bid on the vehicle, we will refund 100% of your money back to you. If the vehicle is won, we then bring the vehicle back to our company and our mechanics will inspect it. Should any problems be found, we will inform you immediately. In addition, we will also do our best to remove any dents or minor things that were on the auction sheet. You can also request certain additions and will let you know if it is possible.

6. You have 2 days after the auction is successful to pay the remainder of your balance. If the vehicle is an auction vehicle, and you fail to pay us after 2 days, the car will be returned. The fee for returning the vehicle along with other charges, will come out of your deposit, usually around 50,000 - 70,000 yen. We will then send you the remainder of the deposit.

7. Once your vehicle has been paid off, we will send it out on the next ship available. As the vehicle is on the way, we will send the papers to you by courier. In a few weeks, the car will arrive at your port and will be ready for you to show off your new Imported Japanese Vehicle to your friends. Enjoy the new ride.

Questions and Answers:

How do you define your FOB price?

FOB price is basically all the costs done in Japan before the ship leaves the port.

FOB price is calculated by:

- Vehicle Price

- Export Certificate

- Transporting the vehicle within Japan

- Custom Clearance in Japan

- Boarding charges of the ship

- Sending documents to the customer

- Auction fees if applicable

Do you have New Japanese Vehicles or only Used Japanese Vehicles?

Our company deals with both used and new Japanese cars. We also can acquire foreign vehicles as well. All of our vehicles will be Right Hand Drive though, so you must take care when ordering such vehicles.

What is C&F price?
FOB + Freight Charges as per destination and size of Vehicle.

What Documents will I receive?
a) Bill of Lading (B/L).
b) Invoice from Tokyo Trade Co., Ltd.
c) De-Registration Certificate.

How can you assure me that I will get exactly same condition as specified?
We provide our customers with the auction sheet and the condition sheet direct from the auction house. Even after this, our team personally inspects the vehicle and ensures that everything matches the sheets. Some countries have specific tests and requirements to import used Japanese cars.

What services do you offer that other Japanese Vehicle Exporters do not offer?

Our company has a well known reputation for providing fast, efficient and a very friendly service. We will do our best to accommodate any special needs you may have with your used Japanese cars. There are many Japanese car exporters in Japan, but we like to feel that we offer a much more personal and different service.

How do I calculate my shipping cost?

Please refer to the Terms and Shipping section to get an idea of the shipping cost, but keep in mind that it is only for example. The page is not a quote, but it gives you a fair idea about the shipping cost. Freight depends on size of the vehicle and destination port mainly. Actual shipping calculations will be done when we find you a vehicle.

Can you find left hand drive Cars for me like Toyota Honda, Mazda, etc?
Left Hand Drive used Japanese Cars are not available in Japan. Most are private imports. We could try to find something on auction, but the chances are very low.

Can you convert steering from right to left or find parts for this conversion?
No. We neither do steering conversion nor supply parts for conversion to left hand drive steering. We don't have such parts in Japan because use only Right Hand Drive vehicles here. Customers with such requirement find these parts by themselves in their local markets and do conversions on their own.

Can you provide me the details of Grading System of the Japanese Car Auctions?
Please

Can I Cancel my Order at any time?
We have no Objection on cancellations. But we request you to make up your mind before ordering to avoid this extreme option. Cancellation goes even more severe after a successful bid in Auction. For more details, please check our Terms and Shipping section. If the customer does cancel after a successful bid, the customer must pay around 50,000 - 70,000 yen for the fees of returning a vehicle. Other Japanese car exporters can charge their commission beyond the returning fee, but we try to be understanding of situations.
