GRADING SYSTEM
This is an explanation of the auction
house grading system for Japanese and Non-Japanese vehicles in Japan.
This grading system applies to both used Japanese vehicles and new
Japanese vehicles. If you have any questions about the system or
would like us to improve or change something, please contact us and
let us know.
Vehicles have 2 grades. The exterior
and the interior.
Exterior Auction grades:

S
- Exterior is perfect, fresh
from the factory.

6
-
Exterior is in near perfect. It has been on
the road but it is as clean as a factory car.

5 -
Exterior is excellent. No damage, but perhaps a little dusty. No
parts changed.

4
-
Exterior is in good condition. Minor
damage.

3 - Exterior is in bad condition.
Can have larger scratches and dents. Needs maintenance.

2 -
Exterior is in very bad condition. Can be damaged, rusted, major
dents, etc.

1 -
The vehicle has been modified for racing or for rough terrain.
Can also have hail or other bad weather damage.

- An accident vehicle that needs repair... or should be
thrown away.
RA
(OA) -
Chassis has had very slight damage.
R, (A
or O) -
Chassis has been damaged.

Auction grades:
A -
Interior is in excellent
condition. Possibly slightly dirty.
B - Interior is in good
condition. Minor damage to the inside. For example cigarette burns
or a small stain. Cleaning up inside the vehicle will fix most of
the problems.
C - Interior is in ok
condition. Wear and tear to seats and dashboard. Most defiantly
needs to be cleaned.
D - Interior has been well
used. Likely many burns or tears. Dashboard or other parts may be
warped from water damage. Many stains that will be difficult to
remove.
E - Interior is in very bad
condition. There will likely be damage to the seats, dashboard,
floor, etc. The vehicle will likely be very dirty and will possibly
smell bad. The insides will need major cleaning and or replacing.
